Rudolf II.
(d. 992)

Count of Altorf (Weingarten)

Count Rudolf II. of Altorf belonged to the generation of Welfs in which a precise father-son succession is established for the first time.  According to the Historia Welforum, Rudolf II. had married countess Ita of Öhringen.  Her mother, countess Richlind of Öhringen, was allegedly the daughter of Otto I. the Great (912-973), emperor from 962.  Even today this genealogical relation in the Historia Welforum generates passionate discussion among historians.
